UIL Information for Students & Parents

UIL Information for Students and Parents

When: Wednesday, April 19, 2017
Where: Champion High School
Dress: Uniforms – cleaned and pressed and on a hanger 

  1. All students need to bring their uniform to the small band hall no later than 8:30 am on the morning of UIL. Please have it on a hanger, with your name, and all of your accessories with it. Boys – Cummerbunds and Bow ties will be in the small band hall if you do not have yours in your tux. BLACK socks and shoes. NO tennis shoes.
    Girls – Pearls will be there in the small band hall. No heels higher than 3 inches, and black shoes
  2. Students need to bring a lunch to eat on campus that day. The choir room will be the UIL Warm-Up room, so they will need to eat in the cafeteria or outside. I would prefer no senior go off campus that day.
  3. The schedule is as follows.  Parents, you can come and listen to our choirs. You must first check in to the office, showing your ID and wear a visitor’s badge.  Give yourself time to park and do this as once the choir starts singing, no one will be admitted into the auditorium.

    Varsity Men:

    Warm-Up 12:50
    Concert: 1:15
    Sight-Reading: immediately after concert

    Men – you need to come to the small band hall and get dressed at 12:20 then report to the hallway by the dance studio for roll.  After we sight-read, you may go and change clothes.

    Varsity Women:

    Warm-Up 2:50
    Concert – 3:15
    Sight-Reading: immediately after concert

    Women- You need to go to the small band hall at 2:20 to get dresses. NO PERFUME OR HAIRSPRAY PLEASE.   Be in the hallway by the dance studio by 2:45.

    Mixed Varsity:

    Warm-Up 5:40
    Concert – 6:05
    Sight-Reading – immediately after the concert

    Mixed – you need to be dressed and in the hallway by the dance studio no later than 5:30.

    Men – please go to the restrooms up by the cafeteria to change. Ladies, you may use the small band hall.
  4. Longhorn CafĂ© – the Boosters are rewarding the students with a dinner at Longhorn starting at 7:30. They need to provide their own transportation to and from there.
  5. Parents, if any of you want to help that day, please email me at mary.hill@boerne-isd.net. I will need you to fill out a background check for that day. 
Beginning on April 21st, students may begin bringing their uniforms for check-in.  They must be clean. Tuxes and dresses are washable.  

We are going to do our best on UIL day!

Spring Choir Banquet

Where: Eilan Hotel Resort & Spa, Incanto Ball Room

When: Saturday May 13th

Time: 6:30pm - 10:30pm

Tickets are $20/student and $25/guest.

This is a full catered dinner with a dance for the students afterwards!

All parents are invited and encouraged to attend, especially our Senior parents!

Dress is semi-formal or Sunday best. No jeans, please.

Students need to sign up and turn their money in to Mrs. Hill no later than Monday, May 8th!

Evening on Broadway 2017: We Need You!

The dates for Evening on Broadway 2017 have been set, so mark your calendars! This fall, plan on a great night of dinner and entertainment at the Éilan Resort Hotel & Spa on Monday, November 6 and Tuesday, November 7 with our very own Champion High School Choirs.

This year, to help share the load of planning and arrangements for the event, we're hoping to form a committee of 7-8 individuals, each with a specific role. If you're interested in volunteering to support Evening on Broadway, please complete our interest form to let us know, and we'll be in touch.

Representatives from the Champion High School Choirs performed at the Madrigal & Chamber Choir Festival this past Friday at Coker United Methodist Church in San Antonio. They also received a helpful clinic from Jonathan Reed, Associate Professor of Music and Associate Director of Choral Activities at Michigan State School of Music.

Winter Ball

Time: 7-10:30

Dress:  Sunday Best/Semi-Formal

Cost:  $10 per person to cover the cost of the DJ, room rental, and food (chicken strips, nachos, smores - not a dinner, just snacks)

Choir members can bring one guest, and they will also cost $10

Holiday Concert

A reminder about our Holiday Concert from Mrs. Hill!

WHEN:  Monday, Dec. 12th

TIME:  7:00 pm

WHERE:  CHS Auditorium

ADMISSION FREE

UNIFORMS and this is a GRADED concert for students.

CALL TIME FOR STUDENTS IS 6:45 pm in the CHOIR ROOM

Kendall Elementary and South Choirs will also be performing, so we are expecting a large crowd to celebrate the season in song.

Those of you who sponsored for EOB and received reserve seating for this, please look for it in the center floor section.

Caroling Opportunities

The Holiday Season is upon us in full force!  We have several opportunities in the next few days to go and carol.  The students know about these and many have signed up, so I felt you might like to know about them as well:)

CHRISTMAS PARTY  - Friday, Dec. 2, 7:30 - 8 pm.
We will stand out in their yard like true carolers as the guests come in.

EMC Caroling - Saturday, Dec. 3, 9 am
Meet at the back of the school in the bus loop - we will ride a bus to 2415 Winding View in Stone Oak.  EMC has been our sponsors for several years, and this is a way to repay their generosity and spread good cheer.

Evening On Broadway - Purchase Tickets Now!

Please support Evening on Broadway. We hope you not only attend as family of the choir, but also bring friends. It is an opportunity for an elegant evening out for couples and families to enjoy being pampered at the luxurious Eilan Resort Hotel and Spa  that directly benefits your student. The funds raised go to support many things throughout the year like competitions, uniforms, music and events. Feel free to forward the message below with a link to buy tickets. Evening on Broadway What & When: Evening on Broadway is an evening that includes a three-course dinner prepared by award-winning chefs at the Eilan. In addition to dinner, there is Broadway music entertainment by the talented students of Champion High School.
                Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and event begins at 7 p.m.
                November 14 & 15 – same program each night, just held over two nights to accommodate crowds

Tickets: Tickets on sale now for $35 a seat or $350 for a table of 10. Order your tickets now for best seating and before the event sells out!
